Today we know little about the life and work of Nicolás Colino Prieto, although we do know that he trained at the Vicente Esquivel workshop in Madrid. As usual at the time, he participated in the National Exhibitions of Fine Arts, being honored with honorable mention in 1901 for a still life of fruits today preserved in the Prado Museum. We also know that he participated in the 1884 edition with a study of the natural, and that in 1904 he presented a still life and three studies on fruits.
